Article: Luhan makes 530,000,000 won a year? Chinese media reports, "On the level of a B-list celebrity"
Source: Newsen via Nate
1. [+519, -12] Then why didn't he stay in China and be a B-list celebrity. He's the one who came to Korea on his own will to train and now that he's debuted and doing well, he screws his members over, screws his company over... For all the screwing over that he's done, 530 million won is a pretty damn good price. Normal people work all day and night and stil can't even make 50 million won a year ㅠ.ㅠ
2. [+446, -11] He's more cunning than Wu Yifan. He made Wu Yifan leave as the bait to test the reactions and then managed his own image before doing the same thing. It's because he managed his image that the fans are so divided.
3. [+432, -12] Does he not realize how much money was invested into EXO? They only started making back the investments during 'Growl' promotions and why would he even expect any higher of an income for an idol only three years into his debut? Isn't what he's making considered a lot? He shouldn't have come to Korea if he wanted so much money ㅋㅋㅋ Why's he harming the other members in the process? SM isn't the 'Let Beauty' program where they change your face and life for free ㅋㅋㅋ
4. [+31, -0] He made so much money considering EXO barely promoted anything this year with all of the scandals.
5. [+30, -5] If you think about it, at least the Chinese are backstabbing because they have somewhere else to go... The Korean members are probably just staying put because they have no other options. Imagine if Moon Junyoung was Chinese, he probably would've fled by now ㅋㅋ
6. [+26, -1] So do the other members make more than you or what? Let's be honest, you're no A-list celebrity material
7. [+22, -0] Is EXO even worthy of A-list or B-list ㅋㅋ If he debuted as an idol through Korea, he should live according to Korea's standards... Why is he comparing his income to what he'd earn in China? He's earning quite a lot for a Chinese in Korea.
8. [+13, -1] Why are they comparing an idol to the income of Chinese actors? Even idols in Korea aren't comparable to what actors make ㅠ and Chinese actors make way more than Korea actors which is why there are Chinese advancements...
-
Well, comparable or not. That's still alot of money tho
ReplyDeletehul T_________T
ReplyDeleteZayum
ReplyDeleteBut I thought that they said the income was fake?
ReplyDelete"On the level of a B-list celebrity" what? are they for real? maybe they're comparing it to A+ actors? did they realize that he's part of a 10-membered group? Thats a lot for a rookie idol in such a big group. They're tripping.
ReplyDelete"He's earning quite a lot for a Chinese in Korea. "
ReplyDeleteTHIS LINE PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH
" [+519, -12] Then why didn't he stay in China and be a B-list celebrity. He's the one who came to Korea on his own will to train and now that he's debuted and doing well, "
ReplyDeletebecause he wouldnt even reach this so-called b-list status and fortune without sm
I thought being B-List was bad....
ReplyDeletelol that is a fuckload of money for a young group with 12 members
ReplyDelete"He made Wu Yifan leave as the bait to test the reactions"
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of EXO or Luhan/Kris, but this is crazy talk. Next you'll be telling me Luhan did 9/11.
Anyway luhan and kris did right
ReplyDeleteThat's half a million USD, which isn't bad considering EXO is still in the very beginning of their careers. But I guess it wasn't enough for him.
ReplyDeleteOut of curiosity, how much is 530 million won in American dollars?
ReplyDeleteK-Netz should stop with the hate. It's getting annoying tbh
ReplyDeleteSM isn't the 'Let Beauty' program where they change your face and life for free ㅋㅋㅋ
ReplyDeleteOMG HHHHHH
idk but i feel like sm was backstabbed
ReplyDelete"he should live according to Korea's standards... Why is he comparing his income to what he'd earn in China?" exactly, it doesnt make sense
ReplyDeleteWhat are they talking about? no matter how much he gets money, it can't buy his happiness and health. If his happy with his family, why can't the let him?
ReplyDelete"I'm returned home"- His weibo message.
yeah, and thats him alone. His income x 12...well, imagine
ReplyDelete530,000 approx
ReplyDeleteClose to half a million. $499,546.
ReplyDeleteNitizen : The next sly fox
ReplyDeleteIf he debuted as an idol through Korea, he should live according to Korea's standards...
ReplyDeleteExactly.
look at these knetz looking for excuses to hate on him lmao
ReplyDeleteWithout the chinese fans, will exo make so much money? ㅋㅋㅋ
ReplyDeletebut Luhan's friend said the report was fake :/ Luhan did't take up any interview nor said anything about his income :/
ReplyDeleteTHIS UNGRATEFUL *SSHOLE!!!
ReplyDeletewhere's the racism here?
ReplyDeleteThat's what i'm saying. he's lucky he wasn't around before SM had to change their contracts
ReplyDeleteI'm tired to see Hangeng being dragged into EXO kids issues. Stop it already.
ReplyDeleteIf I were one of the other members, knowing that the Netizens are turning against Luhan rather than EXO, the next time a member wants to leave, I'd put on a smile and wave them goodbye. 6 billion won divided by 9 is a lot nicer than divided by 10, 11 or 12.
ReplyDeletethey could have gotten it from court records
ReplyDeleteother idols experienced more hardship than him.
ReplyDeletewhoops
ReplyDeletei stopped reading the moment i saw hangeng's face.
yeah they should just keep kissing oppar's ass, am I right?
ReplyDeleteHis popularity in China is unbelievable. No wonder he wants to leave. He get so much more opportunities solo.
ReplyDeleteI support Luhan and his decision to leave but Holy mother of cow! That's a lot of money for an individual member to be earning in a group that just pretty much debuted yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThere's other ways to get that information than from Luhan's mouth.
ReplyDelete"SM isn't the 'Let Beauty' program where they change your face and life for free ㅋㅋㅋ" HAHAHA OMG SOMEONE GIVE THIS KNETZ A COOKIE!!!
ReplyDeletehttp://onehallyu.com/index.php?/topic/109414-luhans-friend-lao-gao-posted-a-weibo-regarding-untruthful-news-by-overseas-news-report/
ReplyDeleteAren't EXO-M's sales the weaker of the two?
ReplyDelete530 million won for a teenager that lipsyncs on stage with no form of real singing is pretty decent. Guys like him mostly end up on youtube dancing to Justin Bieber songs
ReplyDeleteand he didnt even said it himself they were fake, "luhan's friend" did. its her worst against this article, I dont see how people are so quick to believe her and dismiss all these reports
ReplyDeleteCompare it to Moon Junyoung's proof of earnings (roughly $20,000 annually before tax) yesterday. :(
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks like a decent crapload, i don't know the average living cost a korean, but for someone 3 years into debuting that's pretty good :|
ReplyDeletemaybe they should stop giving chinese members double standards even when they have it MUCH worse than korean members. just because he got "a lot" of money doesn't mean that he is okay with living through discrimination and racism
ReplyDeleteother idols experienced more hardships than him. to compare it, his is a bit invalid.
ReplyDeletewell, i dont think the average incorme for chinese people working in korea si that high so i dont see how is that comment wrong
ReplyDeleteI bet they're siding with SM only because he's chinese.
ReplyDeletelol yes
ReplyDeleteI know this may be a novel concept for you people, but people lie.
ReplyDeleteWhether this report or his Weibo post is lying is up for debate, but don't take something as gospel just because someone who claims to be Luhan's friend said it on Weibo. Even if Luhan did tell him to say it, is the possibility of Luhan lying about it or trying to keep it hushed by calling it a lie so impossible?
well I don't really believe it when friends start being the spokesperson whenever someone is in a lawsuit. Their view is just as biased as SM's
ReplyDeleteMost Chinese fansite masters buy a lot of albums to support their sales / fansigns.
ReplyDeleteno one said otherwise
ReplyDeleteso do korean fansites
ReplyDeleteand $499,546 is in 1 year
ReplyDeletewowwwww
Now show us how much SM made out of Luhan only
ReplyDeleteMy only thing that I'm wondering about is his demanding compensation. I know I'm not a lawyer and I'm not pretending to be, but it seems like his reasons for demanding compensation contradict his reasons for wanting to be out of the group. He's demanding compensation because he's more present and doing more work than other exo members in like promotions, but then states that he wants out of the contract because he was getting less work than exo k and isn't being supported. I don't get it, can someone explain?
ReplyDeleteDidn't Luhan go to korea to study? until he got street cast by SM staff?
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of money for a kid who is being housing, trained and feed by his company. Plus he had it easier than older trainees and rookies. SM has invested a lot of money into EXO anyways. No wonder Knets dislike Luhan leaving EXO and SM.
ReplyDeleteIt's the context my dear and how the netizen phrased his comment
ReplyDeleteThey were probably saying it in the sense that he was earning a fair amount for a foreigner working in Korea...
ReplyDeleteERm maybe its because his friend has been acting as his spokesperson in the media so far. Read this.
ReplyDeletehttp://onehallyu.com/index.php?/topic/109414-luhans-friend-lao-gao-posted-a-weibo-regarding-untruthful-news-by-overseas-news-report/
There was an article I read earlier today that said the average salary is about $31,000-ish in South Korea. That's about what it is supposed to be here in the US, so, I'd say he's doing really good for someone only in his first year of work who had a lot of debts to pay off.
ReplyDeleteHe wants solo work and doesn't want to split his money. He also feels like SM gives the korean members more vacation days and treats the chinese members badly.
ReplyDeletemedia play of course...
ReplyDeletehttp://33.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lrjhiofp841r3opg1o1_250.gif
" Why are they comparing an idol to the income of Chinese actors? Even idols in Korea aren't comparable to what actors make ㅠ"
ReplyDeleteexactly. Being a b-loist in chinese actors standards - well damn, thats pretty darn good
wow...they even bring up Junyoung here? shows how famous he's become and how much attention they have on him now....i feel like a proud mama here...heh.
ReplyDeleteRead the comments again then.
ReplyDeletepeople should start using their heads instead of jumping at every comment tbh
ReplyDeleteThis Luhan "friend" can be any random person. Secondary sources are NOT reliable. Where did you get this info? From an article? For all you know this "friend" could a Luhan fan spreading rumors. Don't COMPLETELY believe something unless it comes from the horse's mouth.
ReplyDeletemaybe it's more about the treatment itself rather than the money.
ReplyDeleteThis is true , even the Koreans members treat the Chinese members that way , if you take a look into exo show time you'll see Koreans talk Chinese members as if they were some kind of retard .
ReplyDelete"even when they have it MUCH worse than korean members." please explain me this part. I dotn see how do they ahve it worse than the korean memebrs.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but Korean fansites do, too.
ReplyDeleteTypically the sales for M's albums seem to be lower. Not that every sale doesn't count, but, I doubt every single fan of EXO living in China is going to boycott EXO's albums; Luhan is popular, but Lay also has a very dedicated fanbase.
It's naive to think EXO is over in China just because of Luhan's departure. Their sales will suffer, most likely, but considering their lack of sales there anyway, overall, EXO's sales will probably stay the same.
And if they get an even bigger hit than Growl? They'll be fine.
He actually got a pretty decent amount of money considering that SM probably gave him that much after EXO earned enough to pay off their training expenses. It's not like SM can afford to train all their trainees for free.
ReplyDeleteDid those words of him complaining about money honestly come from his own mouth? but to be fair I'm pretty sure sj dbsk and shinee didnt start raking in money for themselves for awhile too....luhan.... :/
ReplyDeleteIn any given country, it is pretty much a given that it's harder for a foreigner to find success in the workforce. That's just reality.
ReplyDeleteare you serious right now
ReplyDeletethere is racism all over the comments, and also all over every single article on korean sites about Luhan leaving
and the sad part is that the UN investigated Korea for xenophobic/racist employment discrimination. that they're now urging Korea to adopt anti-discrimination laws. Sad that what you're born as determines your worth in the world.
ReplyDeletenot a secondary source lao gao is well known among ex0-l n luhan stans
ReplyDeletehis friend Lao Bao posted it on his Weibo.
ReplyDeleteMaybe SM released this to make Luhan look bad...
ReplyDeleteBut Laogao is really famous around the fans as Luhan's best friend.
ReplyDeleteyawns their media report on his income is what they have 'heard' and there they go making articles bout what they 'heard', sry but if the reliability of article is made up of speculation and those people go beliving it rly needs to wake up, sm if u wanna bullshit thru these rumours pls try harder its getting boring at all the articles in korea r basically trashing him lols
ReplyDelete"He also feels like SM gives the korean members more vacation days"
ReplyDeletewe all know thats bullshit
Groups split their money. just look at suzy, she should be the one complaining not someone like luhan
he wants more solo work...yet he says he's overworked. it doesnt make sense
So the issue comes with the 12 split? But then compensation doesn't make sense because exo k members split their money with him as well, so he technically earned more. I can understand if he wants compensation based on SM denying him solo work, but he can't claim that he earned less based on the work if other members were doing more work than him.
ReplyDeleteI mean I think the really sad thing is, whatever way you look at it. Income divisions are a seriously difficult to do "correctly" I often wonder if there is any write way to split it.
How can Luhans friend know about the contacts of his contract?
ReplyDeleteHe could be ust defending Luhan
How much is 530 million won in dollars?
ReplyDeleteof course Korea tries to make Luhan look like a cunning greedy bastard, why should they still like a Chinese celebrity, who came to Korea just to gain popularity to run away to China. K-netz comment it believing in everything in 100%. Typical.
ReplyDeleteHe's probably wishing he and Luhan could swap earnings. :(
ReplyDeletewow. so much hate. if Luhan earns 530M won, how much do you think SM earns then? considering they have a share for every member of the 12-membered group. come on people. think. and besides, every idol has worked their asses off to get where they are now and to earn what they're earning now. trained for years, practiced from sunrise til sun down, no private life, etc. whatever amount the idols or actors are earning, they've worked for it. more than the company did. the company is always the more benefited one in whichever activity an idol/actor gets.
ReplyDeleteand btw, Luhan's family is filthy rich. I don't really think money is the main issue.
also, with tax and everything makes the number even more false
ReplyDeleteSeriously, that's like ten times better :| But then, about 530M, is it for himself or he actually split with the other member?
ReplyDeleteOmg as long as the person doesn't go against them, people will be like "OPPA,OPPA SARANGAE".The minute he does something against them, they will fucking forget everything the Idol had gone through to entertain them. It's seriously not about money but about human rights.Normal people atleast have a Saturday and Sunday off while these Idols work their asses off without proper sleep for days and days. They should be paid literally much more considering the fact that they work like 350 days in a year!!
ReplyDeletehow is this an excuse, the article is pretty clear
ReplyDeleteeven if Luhan does earn 500k won a year, i still don't see how itt make him at fault? it's his choice to leave :/
ReplyDeletewell I think that is just the members being immature with each other. he never said anything bad about them, did he?
ReplyDeleteI believe that was after the split.
ReplyDeleteEven if it was before the split, that's still roughly 40,000 of earnings, which isn't anything to turn your nose up at, either.
If Luhan doesn't want the money I'll gladly take it.
That's because typically M fans tend to buy both while K fans only buy M.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's much money considering EXO's popularity. It's also not much money considering the years of training they received prior to debut. Plenty of professionals make six figure salaries. It actually doesn't seem like much of a return considering the the years of training, scrutiny of their private lives, and exhausting promotional schedules.
ReplyDeleteRemember that comes from chinese media, they made dating rumors between Psy and Yoona also between Kris and 30 something years old woman who is married and have kids
ReplyDeleteIt's not bad if you're still in the rookie section.
ReplyDeleteI agree. But I sense that they are somewhat looking down on others who are not koreans working in the country??? Like its the tone
ReplyDelete...do people really think that simply because "shes famous on the fandom" will be considered as a valid source for other people? no
ReplyDeleteyea well thats true i trust no side honestly ....some people said that his friend is a lawyer as well but i am not sure
ReplyDeleteOne of his chief complaints, apparently, was over not earning enough.
ReplyDeleteSo it's still his choice to leave, but it's like being that kid on Christmas who gets a hundred presents but whines that he didn't get a hundred and one.
exactly, if he truly left because he though 500K isn't enough then that's his choice and he shouldn't be hated for it. but people need to stop all these conspiracy theories about how SM
ReplyDeleteI would believe this if they showed the proof of where they are getting these figures from. Also, if you divided those figures by 12, he was getting £26126.47.
ReplyDeleteStill...
http://treasure.diylol.com/uploads/post/image/901649/resized_jesus-says.jpg
I thought the tone was more acknowledging how it's hard for foreigners to find work in Korea. However, it's definitely a difficult comment to interpret, they very well may have been implying that.
ReplyDeleteI honestly have no idea why he's asking for money. I don't think kris asked for money(not sure), he just wanted to gtfo. First it was his health, then it was not enough opportunities, then it was not enough money...the list just keeps growing.
ReplyDeleteyes, im serious. I cant see it so please point me out the comments where you see racism
ReplyDeleteCongrats! you just won a bet
ReplyDeleteLMAO
ReplyDeleteEXO-k have always sold more than EXO-M deal with it!
Also, the members have their roles
They wont all get equal pay of course.
Lets talk about how luhan was the first member with a movie role shall we?
And how he leaves right when the movie is released.
Exo is only 2 years old, still getting their name our, and they have 12 members.
Yet these greedy biased delulu fans expect all 12 of them to have a bunch of solo activities and be millionaires lol
After Schools'a nana only makes about 9,000 a year, and other nugu groups, even less.
this is damn good money for a 2 yr old group with 12 members damnit
You have to take into consideration that entertainment companies pay their idols after they start bringing in enough money to pay off their training expenses. Idols probably start receiving a proper income once those fees have been covered. EXO wasn't amazingly popular during their debut year and only shot up to fame with their Wolf comeback - that's when they started earning lots with their fansigns and promotions.
ReplyDeleteah, but most income isn't from album sales. the money from album sales mostly go towards the producers, writers, etc., rather than the artists themselves. artists make most their money from concert and paid appearances which exo probably gets paid a lot for since they're trending.
ReplyDeleteWell, SM spends most of the money promoting the group. Writing lyrics, composing the songs, having managers to handle their schedules, stylists, art directors, choreographers, graphic artists, makeup artists, paying for advertising, paying to produce their music videos and other promo materials, among other things. You won't expect the company to give the biggest piece of the pie to just the group. EXO is not just the group but their entire staff. So the company also needs to generate profits in order to keep up with the competition.
ReplyDeleteuhm no, have you seen the comments on jessica? pretty sure she's as korean as kimchi
ReplyDeleteLuhan doesn't even need money tbh his family is LOADED. He just wanted to make a name for himself doing something he really likes but turns out it ended up affecting his health so he left.
ReplyDeleteYou sound upset..........
ReplyDeleteAnd then you have the dude who stayed besides earning just 35000...
ReplyDeleteThe problem is he is suing the company for a monetary sum. A small one around 40,000 dollars, but he is suing for money. I think the revelation that he made a 6 figure salary last year is a leak to discredit his claim for monetary compensation. It may have come out of Chinese media but this leak has SM written all over it.
ReplyDeleteThe training isn't paid training, though. Training for a K-pop company is basically the company paying for your music, vocal, dance, speech, and etiquette classes for you, on the promise that you'll repay them with your debut.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very common practice in Asian countries.
I wonder what Luhan would have been doing if he didnt come to Korea and become a singer
ReplyDeletelol maybe they are some conspiracy, Kris and Luhan now are in China and slowly they will gather all of the 10 reminding members to move to China and debut there. SM can't stop them like they did to JYJ ;)
ReplyDeleteAND "more cunning than wu yifan" HAHAHAJHAHA omg sry but r u blind? Cant see the diff between the reaction of wyf leaving and luhan leaving. Nobody went ?????? or unfollowed him on ig except, sehun who unfollowed everyone.
ReplyDeleteAh, I see. I was assuming that user No. was saying that high album sales = high income because they said "Aren't EXO-M's sales the weaker of the two?"
ReplyDeletei kno who you're guest i saw it lol anyway first its not "she "its "he" and hes constantly seen with luhan at airport/hospital just google lao gao and luhan you'll se enough pics and that weibo is legit his
ReplyDeleteyeah
ReplyDeleteHe can't even make to the C-list without SM
ReplyDeletegreed
ReplyDeleteThis Chinese "leak" has SM written all over it. Now they can claim they don't owe him any money and make him look like a greedy ingrate at the same time. Funny how I notice you lecture people about believing propaganda but are often so convinced by it yourself.
ReplyDeleteIf that's what he earned, that's actually a lot of money considering all the cuts in the total revenue before he gets his share.
ReplyDeleteYunho and Changmin must be ridiculously rich now considering there's only two of them and their concert tours are huge.
LMAO
TAO just bought a Maserati, tell me again the Chinese members arent paid enough
Lets not forget they dont even really have to buy shit..SM pays for their food, transportation, rent, dorms etc. They also got free food and training all those years as trainees..
SM gives Exo 5 star hotels to sleep in while traveling and their dorm looks nice af for a 2 yr old group.
they havent even finished their concerts yet, those members need ome patience for real.
Oh, and its funny how kris complained that The food SM trainees were fed was prosseced. yet in an interview, When asked whats the best part about sM trainee life, the first thing out of Sehuns mouth was "The food is free!"
How the fuc is Kris complaining about FREE FOOD. Bitch BUY YOUR OWN FOOD. You didnt even debut yet GTF
Same... Like, I ain't mad at him for leaving at all, seriously, but when I heard that amount I was like "Hmmm..." Oh, well. What's done is done, really.
ReplyDeleteYeah I am aware of that and I totally agree with you but the main thing is that this lawsuit wasn't all about money. As I said it's more about human rights being violated here.I hate to see how Media can manipulate the people here. For God's sake,we all do know how rich the Chineseline are
ReplyDeleteI wonder why celebrities get paid large sum of money..
ReplyDeleteWhere did they get that amount? Because I highly doubt its anywhere near accurate.
ReplyDeletethen they were mistaken. or maybe they're using album sales as an indicator or popularity? idk, i can't speak for them, lol
ReplyDeleteFunny how I'm not actually convinced by anything but instead stating the facts as they've been presented.
ReplyDeleteIf you think I buy into anything anyone says, you're incorrect. I'm just as slow to believe an idol as I am to believe a company.
But go ahead, pretend that companies are the only ones who have anything to gain from lying or a smear campaign! It's fun to watch people be naive.
These K-Netizens have points though.
ReplyDeleteHe became popular because of SM. Imagine if he didn't come to Korea and train under SM, will he be popular now?
Isn't Luhan from wealthy family? I guess money isn't the only reason he wants to leave..
ReplyDeleteIt's more like because his name has come up before we know that he's a /real/ person that actually has some sort of relation to Luhan and seeing as he's been saying all of this without any word from Luhan saying that it's untrue then some people are seeing him as a legitimate spokesperson. Though, that still doesn't mean he or Luhan are incapable of lying or bending things, but that's more a matter of opinion about which side you believe in more.
ReplyDeleteHow do you know "the friend's" report wasn't fake?
ReplyDeletelol SM's kids are very money hungry these days. I guess no one in the world is debuting for the sake of being famous and living their dream, more of being multi-billionaires without the actual hard work. KPOP really has changed, it's why so many kids are debuting. "Normal jobs not giving you the wealth you want? BECOME AN IDOL!"
ReplyDeletebecause they work their ass off...
ReplyDeleteLmao it's not like this Lao Gao guy is someone no one has ever heard of. He's been seen with Luhan before.
ReplyDeleteI'm just sitting here laughing at the people who's thinks Luhan left because he was sick. It's a good reason to use but he did the same thing Kris did,and left with the same reasons,it's just that he wasn't man enough to admit it and smartly worked out a little scenario about being sick and discriminated on when he's a Chinese SM favorite.
ReplyDeleteIn the end Luhan was smarter than all of you who believe him how he orchestrated this whole departure.
I agree with what you said. It's rather unfortunate that the focus of this article - Luhan's income - has given a lot of Korean netizens the impression that his lawsuit was solely about his income.
ReplyDeletelol stop commenting and deleting your comment. XD
ReplyDeleteall of these were your comments right? xD BBMayMay
" [+519, -12] Then why didn't he stay in China and be a B-list celebrity. He's the one who came to Korea on his own will to train and now that he's debuted and doing well, "
because he wouldnt even reach this so-called b-list status and fortune without sm
i think the whole 'not earning enough' is just another excuse besides him being tired physically .-. he just want to leave SM the sooner the better .-.
ReplyDeletemaybe the reasons for compensation will be explained more later.
ReplyDeleteAh, xenophobia. You have to love it. The netizens above are very endearing.
ReplyDelete"4. [+31, -0] He made so much money considering EXO barely promoted anything this year with all of the scandals."
ReplyDeleteBruh, they were on tour. They had a concert like every freaking week. Besides, I do get why Luhan isn't pleased with his income. The guy was extremely sick and to know that he didn't get paid well is more than just upsettin.
seems pretty low for a popular group member like him if you compared to other famous bg out there
ReplyDeleteEXO is pretty rich. while many group still strugle with their popularity in their second year. EXO already make that much money. EXO-L really spent so much money on them. but can he pour me some money? i'm broke TT
ReplyDeleteI think most PRCs are opportunists...
ReplyDeleteI wonder how much Kyungsoo earned with his acting in drama and movie
ReplyDeletedifferent activities. like cfs, concerts, college guesting and etc
ReplyDeleteI dont see how can you know in what tone was that comment wrore, you aren't even reading the original comment...seems like they're stating a fact to me
ReplyDeleteHe is poorrrrrrrr :P
ReplyDeleteIt's a well-known fact that Luhan's family is loaded, so it doesn't make sense that he's crying over money. He just wanted equal opportunities as K but SM wasn't giving them that.
ReplyDeleteHis close friend and father said in an interview that he wanted to spend more time with his parents since he's their only child and they're getting older. It also stated that SM didn't let him go visit his family even on breaks.
ReplyDeleteso do other people and they dont get paid the same amount
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe that Luhan made 530 million, EXO maybe, but just Luhan alone? Hmmm.
ReplyDeletefunny how chinese netizens have always continued to bash tao, being racist, and promoting sasaeng culture.
ReplyDeletehttp://onehallyu.com/index.php?/topic/100729-qqchn-exo-member-tao-scolds-fans-don%E2%80%99t-make-us-return-to-korea/
I understand that, but if you go to college and get a law degree you expect that your training and education will lead to a certain outcome. You expect to be a lawyer and make a commensurate salary. If you are a Korean idol and stick around long enough to debut, in a very successful group, which he did, then there is no reason he shouldn't expect a certain level of compensation. I also understand it's common practice but it's not common practice in all Asian companies, mostly Korean and Japanese. These kids are fleeing back to China because, firstly it's home and they were tired of the grind, next because they are obviously getting better treatment. I think it's a little funny that idols are treated so badly in Korea that the Chinese have to run back to their communist country to get more freedom in their careers. Laughable really.
ReplyDeleteOf course he didn't , neither did kris , but it wasn't necessary .
ReplyDeleteHey, I have no ill-will toward the kid if he wants out of the entertainment business, or to return him. That's his agenda.
ReplyDeleteBut like Kris, he's trying to use a bunch of 'compounding issues' in order to get the job done. Kris fabricated a health issue (Luhan obviously has one, he didn't need to do that) and Luhan is bringing in money issues.
I don't doubt that they're being offered better things in China, but the bottom line is that they signed a contract. Unless SM has violated this contract, they're still legally bound to fulfill it.
EXO's only been around more than 2 years though. I doubt they even started earning profits until they started their concerts. SM invested so much money on them, and they'd have to get their money back first before turning over most of it to the group. For a group as young as EXO, that's really not a bad amount at all.
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, it could be a lot higher if he had more solo gigs or whatever.
Lol @ Luhan stans saying thats not a lot...um Doctors and Lawyers can barely make this much money in their life. yet he did it in one year thanks to SM. wow
ReplyDeleteBut that doesn't matter, because he IS under SM.
ReplyDeleteLuhan was the one who wanted to be an idol debuted in Korea. He was the one who signed the contract in the first place. Now that he got what so called popularity, he asked SM to terminate his contract and asked for conpensation. I dont see why fans have to shield him like foe 24/7. For me, he's in fault for being disloyal.
ReplyDeleteyep that's given for every company. but the thing is, how the media play is trying to make it seem like its only the artist that's benefiting from whatever income they get from every activity. it's always a win(bigger part) - win(smaller part) situation for every artist-company relationship. they've both invested just as much.
ReplyDeletethat chinese journalist is just stirring shit. it makes no sense to compare his income in korea to what a celeb in china would make. different countries, different economies, etc.
ReplyDeleteThis! And exo only started getting popular and making money since growl (last year).
ReplyDeletethey havent even gained the profit of their concert yet! why are they so impatient ! damn
ReplyDeleteare you doing the conversion right....? plenty of doctors and lawyers make 500k USD in a year.
ReplyDeleteAfter Wu Yi Fan,it's Luhan's turn to get hate. The Media will forever twist and turn facts.I pity them tbh
ReplyDeleteHow do you know the Chinese media report isn't fake? You don't? Although it looks to me like it has SM's handwriting all over it. Reveal his salary, or even lie about his salary, then portray him in the media not as a sick and tired kid but as a traitorous little money grubber.
ReplyDeleteThat makes the most sense out of all his reasons. Victoria said it had been over a year since she saw her family at one point. I think fei and jia also said something similar. It must be hard for them.
ReplyDeleteI hate that Hangeng gets dragged into this because of the recent scandals when his story was in the past.
ReplyDeletetahts exactly what you call a secondary source otl
ReplyDeleteThis is such a lie lmao. There is absolutely no way Luhan alone made that much. Not when exo is only 3 years old, has barely paid back their initial investement, have few solo activities under their belts, dont own or sell any properties and haven't ever resigned their contract (bc THATS when u really start ballin as an idol). SMear campaign.
ReplyDeletethey should go to the entertainment field then...
ReplyDeleteAlso, international fans don't always have enough money to buy both versions so most of them buy the K version.
ReplyDeleteYou go to college for a law degree and then have to pay it back. They went into training to become a K-pop idol, and then had to pay it back.
ReplyDeleteConsidering it's only their first two years since debut, 530mil is a lot of compensation for one person to have. They have a lot of debt to pay back and also have a lot of members, and 2014 is the first year they've been able to participate in tours. This is the start of their careers. Last year they were taking off, but this year was the year they would make the real money in. Album sales don't pay well- just ask TLC. Roughly $0.11 on every album sold- meanwhile the revenue from concerts is outstanding.
you keep saying in this thread that you're impartial and won't believe just anything media releasing but you're sure commenting as if you believe the report released is true.
ReplyDeleteand how do you know that this article is reliable? Do they have actual information to his income? No. well unless they asked him or go to sm. speculations and what they 'hear' from arent reliable sources.
ReplyDelete530,000 aint that bad
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly since he's suing them for money....not much money....but he did name a figure in his suit....
ReplyDeleteYep.
ReplyDeleteThis year, they were able to do tours, where the money really is- so this year's earnings will make last year's look sad.
Wasn't he super sick and hospitalized though?
ReplyDeleteI am not an exo-l, but I could clearly see that Luhan was the most fav chinese member among four. So I dont really understand when news stated that he felt discriminated.
ReplyDeleteYes. meanwhile poor NaNa only lives off of 9,000$ a year...
ReplyDeleteNot if he has his way, haha.
ReplyDeletehis friend is biased..no? lol
ReplyDeleteLook. Just support who you are supporting. Don't waffle around pretending to be neutral.
ReplyDeletethey are hardly even talking about the amount of money. they know that they have nothing to complain about so they're pulling random shit out of their asses. you can tel because the comments are so long and filled with like three different topics each of nonsense lmao
ReplyDeleteSome of you are bragging that Exo K album sales are higher than Exo M, so can we talk about how popular exo m after debut than k? They had been receiving Awards that its great for a rookie when Exo k is totally being buried in korea,. Then what did Sm do? They merged two groups so that Exo m loyal chinese fans will follow them, This is a fact, Exo L's who had been with Exo since debut will know this
