Same Old: Idols

Article: Han Hye Jin and Suzy's two shot, a battle of the beauties 'who is the winner?'

Source: TV Report via Nate

1. [+416, -80] ...? Isn't the answer definitely Han Hye Jin?

2. [+339, -62] What comparison... obviously Han Hye Jin~

3. [+313, -65] It's like comparing a celebrity to a commoner

4. [+48, -10] I like Suzy but let's be real, her beauty is not nearly on par with any actress

5. [+44, -0] Han Hye Jin is a traditional beauty while Suzy's cute

6. [+44, -6] I thought someone blurred Suzy out for a second ㅋㅋ Han Hye Jin really has clear/distinct features

7. [+39, -8] Actress >> idol

8. [+39, -14] Han Hye Jin's how old now...? And yet she still looks better than someone younger

9. [+38, -7] Since when did idols ever be allowed to be compared to actresses? Han Hye Jin has everything from beauty to class, how could you compare someone immature and lacking of manners like Suzy to her?

10. [+33, -9] Han Hye Jin has a celebrity face... while Suzy is on the pretty side among commoners

Article: [SS Juke Box] Idols, are you listening? This is what Cho Yong Pil's music is

Source: Sports Seoul via Naver

1. [+763, -57] Don't hate on idols. They don't even deserve to be brought up in the same conversation as a legend like Cho Yong Pil. It pisses me off to see his status lowered by having idols mentioned around his name.

2. [+689, -44] We need to restructure this whole idol thing. Get rid of every single idol that is barely making it in the competition. TEEN TOP? B1A4? Who are these nobodies?

3. [+474, -44] What a refreshing title

4. [+367, -40] Buy his CD and listen to it. The sound is just on another level... Now, people might prefer the impressive dance moves of an idol but wait for a few years to pass, you'll wonder to yourself why you ever liked them. Idol music now shouldn't even be considered music. I'm glad older singers are making a comeback.

5. [+264, -18] A 64 year old ajusshi managed to beat them all in the end. Doesn't matter if you don't have the visuals, gotta win with your singing talent first and foremost. Idols are dancers, not singers.

6. [+178, -17] Since when were idols considered singers???

7. [+184, -24] Since idols can't make it with their singing, they try to get popular with gimmicks like humorous music videos and stripping for girl groups. Music died once we hit 2000... I now realize why Cho Yong Pil is called the king after listening to trash for so long.

8. [+142, -9] I don't hate idols. They got to where they are through hard work. What I do, however, want them to learn from seniors like Cho Yong Pil is that that doesn't mean their journey is over.

9. [+124, -19] Definitely better than gay-pop songs that shouldn't even be considered songs

10. [+45, -4] I like idol music but I want groups to start getting rid of all of those extra members who stand in the front for their looks when they don't even have vocal talent... They're like leeches ㅋㅋㅋ

  2. Actress >> idol ffs

at least some idols can act. how about actress can sing and dance like idols?
btw Suzy so pretty in the pic

  3. Who actually one that first showdown?

Ouch.. poor Teen Top and B1A4.. but I gotta admit Teen Top is barely making it atm :/

    ReplyDelete
  5. Actually quite a few people debut as actors/actresses even though they could just as easily debut as singers/dancers/rappers. They just choose one stream over the other.

Ouch that's harsh... But the idol market is really saturated though...

work. What I do, however, want them to learn from seniors like Cho Yong
Pil is that that doesn't mean their journey is over.

    THIS!

  8. OT but why is it so bad in Korea for idols to date? Aren't idols already dating? This is why Korean idols can never make it in America. The cultures are just too different (yes yes there's Psy but he's already married and goes against the idol grain)

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'mma just listen to whatever music that suits my taste. You don't like it? Not my problem. Let people enjoy what they want.

    ReplyDelete
  10. The fangirls/fanboys always think they have a chance of oppa/noona/whatever. Once an idol announces his/her relationship, the appeal is gone, I guess.

Agree! Everybody has to start somewhere, and some just chose to be idols because it's the ~easier~ path to debut these days. Don't hate on them. Yoon Kyesang, Jung Ryeowon, Eugene, Hyori, Yoon Eunhye, Sung Yuri, Eric, Kangta, etc. all debuted as idols back in the day. What's important is how they'll stay in the limelight when their idol days are over in whatever field of showbiz they choose to be in.

  15. "I like idol music but I want groups to start getting rid of all of those extra members who stand in the front for their looks when they don't even have vocal talent... They're like leeches ㅋㅋㅋ "

this is the real problem, if idols were all at least decent singers they wouldn't get too much hate

    ReplyDelete
  16. How is that funny if it's true?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Entertainers, performers... but not focusing on singing.

    ReplyDelete
  18. "Suzy is on the pretty side among commoners."
    My thought exactly

    ReplyDelete
  19. not even some. few cant act would be more accurate. every group has 2 good singers and the rest get by. plus dancing is different from idol dancing. jay park is what i call dancing. listening to a beat and move your body with feeling. idol dance moves are rehearsed and stiff looking.

    ReplyDelete
  20. They'd be idols. Yes, they do sing, but it's only a component of their whole package. There's dancing and variety shows and whatever else that goes along with it, as opposed to singers who sing and don't bother about anything else.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I actually think Suzy looked prettier. I don't really know why people think Han Hye Jin is pretty (sorry..). But I will admit actresses to the likes of Kim Tae Hee, Song Hye Gyo, Lee Yeon Hee, Jeon Ji Hyun are on another level. Their beauty is unparalleled.

    ReplyDelete
  22. han hye jin vs suzy more like thick makeup vs light makeup. That's all the diff i see

    ReplyDelete
  23. For me, HYJ is prettier but Suzy is pretty too

    ReplyDelete
  24. MOST of the times, K-FUCKING-NETIZENS PISSES ME OF BIG TIME!
shut up already! we get your point. YOU dont like idols. then dont even bother mentioning them.

we should give them an award, for consistency on HATING IDOLS whatever it takes!

    ReplyDelete
  25. it's harsh and i have nothing against those groups in particular, but ia tbh. there are too many rookies and they're running the industry into the ground. kpop/idol groups should be a small, niche part of the market because it allows them to develop proper fanbases

    ReplyDelete
  26. what's with koreans thinking actresses are better looking than idols by default? lmao

death @ their idol vs. "real music debate" too. it reminds me of arguments between indie or rock music fans against western pop music fans lol.

    ReplyDelete
  27. so... essentially what they're saying is that idols.. no matter what they do.. are second rate compared to anyone..

    ReplyDelete
  28. even though knetizens/public think idols are useless, but if there were no idols at all..we, Ifans wouldn't be here reading their comments. and I'd never care about a country named south korea. but it's true that 80% idols are talentless.

    ReplyDelete
  29. But that's kinda stupid. They're not meant to be only singers, they're meant to Entertain and that's what most of them do.

    ReplyDelete
  30. i think it's preference.. i prefer the natural/cute/"normal" face rather than traditional beauty, that's why i don't find Kim Tae Hee nor Song Hye Kyo attractive.. i mean they have traditional beauty like netizens said, but they're not my cup of tea, actually i find Han Hye Jin prettier than them

    ReplyDelete
  31. Cho Yong Pil's Bounce sounds like One Direction song

    ReplyDelete
  32. The problem is that when idols debut the one that can't sing somehow always manages to be the most popular.

    ReplyDelete
  33. um..kindly name an idol who can act well and it won't be funny. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Not to be a flozzy, but doesn't idols kinda bring in more money for korea? And also tourists?

    ReplyDelete
  35. i'm not saying they have to just sing... but at least they need to have some singing skills

    ReplyDelete
  36. i think even if they can sing, they get stereotyped by the 'idol' label and people assume they can't sing anyway (eg: people always saying suju are untalented despite how talented kry are, and people thought db5k were just pretty faces).

being an idol doesn't just sell their talent, they have to look good, entertain, dance etc so their vocals will never be emphasized enough to get them that sort of recognition

    ReplyDelete
  37. i thought suzy looked prettier

    ReplyDelete
  38. yep, that's why the government supports kpop a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  39. 8. [+142, -9] I don't hate idols. They got to where they are through hard work. What I do, however, want them to learn from seniors like Cho Yong Pil is that that doesn't mean their journey is over.

    THIS <3

    ReplyDelete
  40. its like disney stars. you dont consider them real actors and singers until they try to make it off that network. and about 90 percent of em disappear when their time is up.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I wouldn't really call a person singing 10 seconds of a song (and sometimes even those 10 seconds are auto-tuned LMAO) a singer.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Then don't, I'm talking about the ones that do sing and have a singing role.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Nah, even if everything about DBSK's whole existence screamed "IDOL," they were very well-regarded in the industry (and the public) for their vocals. Probably one of the very few idol groups whose vocals were never questioned.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Comparing looks is human to do, but using people's occupation to explain their outward appearance and thus use this as a reasoning to justify why actress looks better and thus is a better career and standing than idols is like an ass backwards method of thinking.

The correct line of thinking would be their predisposed bias against teenage idols in favor for actress (because of their impression that actors and actresses work to earn their spot, not unlike the concept of elderly seniority and respect in traditional japanese and korean culture) cause them to project biased views and only accept what they expected, that is that actresses will always look better than idols, and this validates why idols suck in their opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  45. 6. [+44, -6] I thought someone blurred Suzy out for a second ㅋㅋ Han Hye Jin really has clear/distinct features

    It's called make-up.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Those people commenting about the old man probably do not even listen to him.

    ReplyDelete
  47. You're right and I think the music industry in SK is noticing that they
are no longer making any profit with idol groups....I don't know if it's
just me but I think there are debuting a lot less idol groups this year
    compared to 2012.

    ReplyDelete
  48. hmm... well idk. even YG talked about how people have wrong preconceptions of them (and that if they weren't so good looking they'd be the male version of big mama lol)

    ReplyDelete
  49. "her beauty is not nearly on par with any actress"

this is so stupid even if suzy isn't stunningly gorgeous or w/e they are still actresses uglier than her just bc they are an actress it doesn't automatically them prettier -___- and then what are the netizens that make comments like that? super ugly?

    ReplyDelete
  50. We all have tastes.

I just gave his new song a try, it's catchy ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hello just came out on AKP, it's pretty good ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  52. Han Hye Jin is super pretty. I was looking at Suzy but Han Hye Jin was right there and I couldn't stop looking.
I do think that Suzy has a more cute kind of beauty, but Han Hye Jin has something more...

    ReplyDelete
  53. 10. [+45, -4] I like idol music but I want groups to start getting rid of all of those extra members who stand in the front for their looks when they don't even have vocal talent... They're like leeches ㅋㅋㅋ
THIS is why I don't like idol groups except BEG, they sell music for God's sake, and most of them can barely hold a note and has no talent, is what happens to me with this girl Bora popular for her face and for being loud and kind of aeygoish, or hyuna (that I don't understand) to be honest sometimes I try to give an opportunity to the idols groups but if they have no vocal talent I just can't tolerate.

    ReplyDelete
  54. It's true. I mean as much as I love idol groups, there is a problem if I say: okay I really love that member BUT WHY DID HE/SHE EVEN DEBUT???
...And it happens a lot =_=
Approximately 1/3 of a group have no particular talent (and they manage to be the most popular ones because of fangirls/fanboys who forgive the lack of talent if it's a pretty girl or a handsome boy...so maybe fans are the problem)

    In an idol group:
When you can't sing, they put you as a rapper in the group.
And they all dance the same so you can't recognize the main dancer
And there is that one who's a awesome singer...but most of the time, they aren't considered handsome or pretty so...

    ReplyDelete
  55. I disagree. If they "needed" to have singing skills they would be called singers and not idols but they're not. Technically some of them are called the lead/main "vocalists" of their respective groups they still hold the title of idol.

Unrelated note: I honestly don't think Koreans care about vocals as much as they claim to (not all of them). There are plenty of idols and idol groups out there that can sing but they don't pay attention to them. Or they ignore them because they're not pretty/handsome enough.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hyuna's popular because she used to be in Wonder Girls and then Cube tried to use that popularity to boost 4Minute but it kind of failed.

    ReplyDelete
  57. From his newest album 'Hello' there are several really good ones. This was one of my favorites:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFfZTcdHXnc

I don't have the english translation of all these titles but I also think Bounce, 걷고 싶다, 그리운 것은, 말해볼까, and 서툰 바람 are really good. I normally like this kind of music so that's why I like them but you might find that this isn't your kind of thing.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yeah, I kind of agree. Like when Piggy Dolls debuted, everyone knew they could sing but yet they couldn't get popular and then they dropped all of their weight and still couldn't popular.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The fact is that it depends: for example Hyorin
An idol? A singer? Both? An idol who's a good singer?
And if people are actor/actress/singer > idol, than a bad actor/actress/singer is better than a good idol?
Really, that is all bullshit imo =_=

    ReplyDelete
  60. From Mark Twain - "Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough."

I think that quote fits well with the current idol market - there's way too many of them debuting but you can never get enough of the more successful ones or those that show promise in the near future.

With that said though, the idol market needs some trimming forced down to it. From 2010 to 2012 alone, there were probably somewhere around 200-300 groups that debuted and thousands more trainees in various agencies.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Thanks. Will listen to it slowly :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. "Actress >> idol" Lol second class elitists.

    ReplyDelete
  63. nah... Without makeup, Han hye Jin would still trump in the beauty department. Then again, like someone mentioned above, it's all preference. But the fact that HHJ still looks the same now as when she's the age of Suzy is making me so envious.

    ReplyDelete
  64. you, and whoever agrees with you are typical delusional fangirls.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Whatever man, I'm sick of seeing everyone calling me delusional because I'm not repeating the same bullshit they are. Call me whatever you want, keyboard warrior.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Idols only are one of many things that bring in more money for Korea when it comes to entertainment. But of all things considered, the idol music sector isn't the biggest factor - heck, the video games industry in SK makes way more money from both domestic and export alone while broadcasting companies have much more influence in what's shown and what isn't.

If anything, dramas, movies and other forms of media probably have a more bigger impact in bringing tourists over than idols do.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Uh the actress is just more plastic is more makeup that ain't cute

    ReplyDelete
  68. I honestly never heard/seen dongbang criticized as "just pretty faces". Immediately, upon debut as a dance acapella group, they managed to show all members have distinct talents. They were the start of a new generation of idols. Their (arguably) weakest singer is still better than the best singers of their idol contemporaries. Hence dongbang was always seen as a different level of idol. Basically, when they're called idols, it didn't have a negative connotation.

    ReplyDelete
  69. 8. [+142, -9] I don't hate idols. They got to where they are through hard work. What I do, however, want them to learn from seniors like Cho Yong Pil is that that doesn't mean their journey is over
Finally a sensitive and objective comment.
I hope too that idols or rather their agencies will start to see that they don't have to rush releases, comebacks etc they have plenty of time. Just try to make good music instead of wanting to make a hit. I'm a fan of an idol group but i want them to evolve and grow artistically or else they will all go down in the industry. Kpop was great during 2007/2009 but now it's time to move on. Too much rookies are killing the Kpop anyway. But once again it will be their agencies's decision and since most of them consider their groups as products... they are doomed.
Right now, the only groups who can survive are the biggest but they need to make changes. If they succeed to grow as artists they will be ok, if not... Kpop is nearly over so they should probably be fast.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Idol dancing isn't all that spectacular to praise. I would say that Lee Yeonhee should have gone to sticking as an SNSD member than going for acting though.

Suzy is pretty too, but the truth is..... Han Hye Jin is prettier. You know.. Han Hye Jin grown to such lady, and she has the image "actress". So of course, Han Hye Jin.

They are the top of the entertainment food chain in Korea and I don't think it will change anytime soon sadly.

I wonder if any of the current singers or idols will do what Jo Yong Pil did, if any of them will continue to release music when they're over 60.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Yeah exactly. Idols wouldn't get half the shit they are currently getting if there wasn't a new group coming out every 2 or 3 weeks. I feel like even as recently as 2008/2009 being an idol was held to a much higher standard than it is right now and the response towards idols was much more positive. Companies are debuting groups like crazy and getting nowhere with it, and at the same time they are bring others down with their actions.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Don't assume that netizens = all Koreans ^^ Especially with Nate Pann, which is renowned for having the most female-centered userbase. The Korean guys I know in real life all worship Suzy.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I've never seen netizens complain for more than a couple of days when a member leaves or when a group disbands.

However, they've been complaining about the lack of quality in idol music since about 2002 so...

    ReplyDelete
  85. Has Cho Yong Pil ever written a song...? Uh, yeah. He has.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Since when did idols ever be allowed to be compared to actresses?
Since when were idols considered singers???

fyi knetizen, one of the reason korea is well known because of idols....

    ReplyDelete
  87. idk if i would have used cho yong pil's new music as a counter point against idol music since his stuff wasnt particularly innovative or refreshing but nice to listen to imo. esp the title track which just sounded like a one direction song. so...lol @ music elitists. music elitism is the dumbest way to feel superiority over another person

    ReplyDelete
  88. 2009 was perhaps the final year idol groups were held at high standards overall - after all, groups like SNSD, KARA, Suju, Big Bang, 2PM etc. all had major hits that boosted them up in popularity and even rookie groups at the time like T-ara and 2NE1 managed to hit it pretty big as well.

At the same though, that was also the year the JYJ lawsuit occurred along with SeeYa's split/Nam Gyuri's departure and to other matters, the circumstances of actress Jang Ja Yeon's suicide began to show cracks of Korea's showbiz that shook the whole public immensely in particular.

    ReplyDelete
  90. LOL These netizen exaggerate han hye jin beauty :))
yes she's pretty but the way they judge it is laughable :)))
They really are mean to the idols and these same old comments are getting boring -.- Some netizen never respects nor acknowledge idols who's taking a large reason why south korea is gaining some international attention.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I feel bad for the idols who get brought up in these kind of articles.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Suzy might be younger but Han Hyejin is--obviously--prettier.

Even Hyejin's dress is prettier ㅋㅋ

    ReplyDelete
  93. no, idol groups should be. generally kpop = idol groups, not regular pop music

    ReplyDelete
  94. Now I'm not a Suzy fan or a Hye Jin fan but Suzy's face looks much more beautiful when compared in this picture.

Hye Jin's face is filled with makeup while Suzy has minimal makeup and still looks pretty.

Hye Jin is probably very beautiful in other pictures but the commenters putting down Suzy here just don't like idols it has nothing to do with who is actually prettier.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Nope actors

    Winter Sonata
    Love story in Bali
    Full House
    Autumn In my Heart
    Stairway to heaven
    What happened in bali

    Etc

    ReplyDelete
  96. Kinda like during K-pop's earlier years in the dawn of the 21st century all the way up to 2009.

    Ah, good times they were...

    ReplyDelete
  97. Lol
This is a comparison between smoky/bold make up and light make-up.
Love how the netizens seem to think actresses are some elite race

    ReplyDelete
  98. Idols actually bring more money to Korea than those "real singers" K-netizens are talking about. Whether I like it or not, whether they like it or not, SM idols they hate so much bring more money to Korea than singers like Cho Yong Pil.

    ReplyDelete
  99. lol love how netizens think being an actress has some sort of level that makes them superior to any other profession. Take away those labels and just look at them as people, Suzy wins (for me).

    ReplyDelete
  100. Knowing how much T-ara is loved these days...

  102. Netizens are always ragging on idols about their lack of talent and stuff, but are actresses really automatically more talented? How many actresses are popular for their skills alone? Most articles I've seen praise an actress' beauty and very few talk about their talents. They act like actresses are so much better than idols... for what...being good looking? I personnally think there are just as many bad/average actors than bad/average singers. People need to stop pretending they care so much about talent when what they care about most of the time is physical appearance.

    ReplyDelete
  103. 6. [+178, -17] Since when were idols considered singers???

So.... IU, Ailee, Hyorin, Lee Haeri, Taeyeon. Hmmm whats weird is that they can sing probably better than the one who wrote this comment...

    ReplyDelete
  104. I think Suzy looks better. She's more natural looking and hardly has any makeup on compared to that actress and I don't even like Suzy tbh

    ReplyDelete

  106. Actors and actresses are treated a lot better than anyone else celebrity wise. Singers and idols are nowhere near the pedestal Korea puts actors and actresses on

    ReplyDelete
  107. the problem with k-net is, they generalize beauty according to your profession. If you're an actor/actress, then you're the most gorgeous human being in the whole world. If you're an idol, you're just a plastic surgery monster. If you're a regular netizen, then you're a squid. Stupid mentality of k-netizen that most of them ARE plastic surgery monster rofl go die

    ReplyDelete
  108. are you only saying that because you don't follow them?
teen top's europe tour got sold out pretty quick and so did their korean concert
they have almost as many fans registered on their fancafe as wondergirls

    ReplyDelete
  109. Hye jin is prettier in that pic

    ReplyDelete
  110. Yeah KPOP bring huge income for Korea. C'mon, tourist visit korea to attend idol concert, many international students study in Korea also bcos they like KPOP in the beginning, idol's dramas sell like hot cake in overseas. That's why Korean govt try their best to support KPOP n to revive Hallyu wave.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I thought cho yong phil invited taeyang to his concert or something?read somewhere

    ReplyDelete
  112. That's nice to know. Not hating on the actress, Suzy really did look more beautiful in the screencaps. The angle in which Han Hye Jin was captured wasn't flattering, so it puzzles me quite abit at the netizens' responses.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Imo...its not embarrasing to like a kpop group even tho u r older than them...my bias group i know alot of ppl are older from 55 year old also still supporting them because they like their talents and music...

  114. No...winter sonata...autumn in my heart...

  115. I also find actress jung ryeo won to be very pretty

    ReplyDelete
  116. By the way it is nate news, not natepann in the article

    ReplyDelete
  117. I never said anything about actual singers bringing in more money to Korea though.

But with that said however, idols certainly are not the main source of income when it comes to revenue from entertainment and culture as I have mentioned above.

And even then, the comparisons are a bit unfair to say the least - idols have the full backing of agencies, some of them extremely powerful and influential in the showbiz. Many singers don't have that sort of luxury but when it comes to Korea, they have a lot more respect and popularity from the public.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Dbsk...even tho the person can sing and not just pretty face...eg jaejoong...they will be recognised to be just a pretty face...talking abt judging a book by its cover

    ReplyDelete
  119. But han hye jin is prettier even without actress status. Watch jumong she is gorgeous. And she is well in her thirties, morethan 10yrs older than suzy. And she still looks amazing

    ReplyDelete
  120. What a bunch of music snobs in that comment section! Not all music has to be "critically acclaimed" to be enjoyed... but I'm sure you guys all know that

    ReplyDelete
  121. Yes they listen to him. He is a pop legend. Don't underestimate him you i-fan

    ReplyDelete
  122. Han Hye Jin is way prettier than her. Seriously, that pic was so unflattering but she DOES look like a goddess.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Han Hye Jin is WAYYYYYY prettier

    ReplyDelete
  126. Same here. Used to like SNSD but now I'll never admit that I liked them lol
Man... Genie era was amazing, that was good times

    ReplyDelete
  127. Their UK concert never sold out even after offering cheaper tickets. The concert itself was pretty much half empty... Maybe it was different for the other Europe dates idk...

  128. [+689, -44] We need to restructure this whole idol thing. Get rid of
every single idol that is barely making it in the competition. TEEN TOP?
    B1A4? Who are these nobodies?

    lol b1a4 hahahah

    ReplyDelete
  129. i say "one of the reason"

    ReplyDelete
  130. yes, drama is also one of the reason...
but, for US, Europe, i think they know korea starting from idol...

    ReplyDelete
  131. It was different for the other dates, actually.

    ReplyDelete
  132. They have to be saying it because they don't follow them, and I'm not just saying it because I'm an angel or because thatcomment really boiled my blood- I don't see how anyone could say that they're barely making it, not with all of those tour tickets they sold. Like, in what way are the barely making it? Music show wins? They /THIS/ close to winning numerous times, were up against shinee and stood a chance in second place missing it by a hair. Xoxl must not know anything about them.

    ReplyDelete
  133. it's funny how K-netizens religiously believe that every single actress is more beautiful than all idols.they're so dumb

    ReplyDelete
  134. he actress does look prettier than Suzy, but so what? Some idols are better looking that actresses.

As for the music versus idols debate..........I won't even go there. Music is music. Let's just enjoy it.

    ReplyDelete
  135. yes but disney stars don't have the voice of a junsu or a Hyorin ,disney stars can"t dance like yuhno or Boa etc

    ReplyDelete
  136. [+48, -10] I like Suzy but let's be real, her beauty is not nearly on par with any actress. ~~~> THIS

[+689, -44] We need to restructure this whole idol thing. Get rid of every single idol that is barely making it in the competition. TEEN TOP? B1A4? Who are these nobodies? ~~~> The funny thing is she/he KNOWS THEM.

  137. delulu fans are the only ones that think that they're somewhat indispensable for the country's economy.

  139. Dilyara KadrzhanovaApril 24, 2013 at 12:26 PM

To say that teen top is barely making it you clearly don't know anything about them. I've been an Andromeda/Angel since debut and can honestly admit they weren't at all popular until Going Crazy and even then didn't hit their peak until now. But they're at their best right now and have gained a huge amount of fans internationally and in korea as well and have begun to outsell or come close to a lot of already well-established seniors. If you don't keep up with the group or actually know where they stand then don't make such matter-of-factly statements that don't even have any substance to them.

    ReplyDelete
  140. I find it funny they call Suzy ''nothing special'' ''average'' and ''commoner'' but if you go to Seoul streets it is hard to find someone like Suzy. They call her average but the streets aren't full of Suzy alike. It is hard to have her milk skin and natural double eyelids... I laugh when I-netizens and K-netizens says she isn't pretty and average.

    ReplyDelete
  141. [+124, -19] Definitely better than gay-pop songs that shouldn't even be considered songs
    Homophobic Korean are homophobic.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Yea....Han Hye Jin also had plastic surgery...

    ReplyDelete
  143. How could you put Ailee, Hyorin, HaeRi in a category with the rest? ;O

    ReplyDelete
  144. "10. [+45, -4] I like idol music but I want groups to start getting rid
of all of those extra members who stand in the front for their looks
when they don't even have vocal talent... They're like leeches ㅋㅋㅋ"

    I kind of agree...

"6. [+178, -17] Since when were idols considered singers???"

Since Hyorin, HaeRi, Ailee, Yeonji, JeA.....

    ReplyDelete
  145. So just because someone brings in money, you have to like them? Justin Bieber and other American pop singers bring in money for the US, does that mean Americans have to like them? That's rather an illogical argument. Honestly, people are getting tired of idols. There's simply too many of them and they dominate the music industry. Worse than that, a lot of unskilled and unprepared idols even enter the acting industry. It's just too much.

Also, the money idols bring in is minimal compared to Korea's other exports. What I really dislike is that all these delusional fans think Korea will suddenly become bankrupt if idols didn't exist and that all of us Koreans have to bow hands and feet in gratitude.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Your statement can go both ways. K-netizens have expressed their distaste for idols and prefer other music, but i-netizens complain saying why don't you like my unnie and oppa and call K-netizens out saying nonsense like idols are a huge economic part of Korea and you should appreciate them. Look at the comment section. People are excessively complaining everywhere just because K-netizens don't like idols. People here say all the time that people can like and dislike whoever they want, but as soon as K-netizens make it clear they dislike a certain group or individual, people here go crazy complaining everywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Are you serious? Do you even follow Teen Top..What is your definition of barely making it?..please explain to me.

    ReplyDelete
  148. 8. [+142, -9] I don't hate idols. They got to where they are through hard work. What I do, however, want them to learn from seniors like Cho Yong Pil is that that doesn't mean their journey is over.
Yes finally someone who gets it! Expresses their opinion without bashing anyone.
    9. [+124, -19] Definitely better than gay-pop songs that shouldn't even be considered song

How can a song be gay -_- I hate it when they throw the term gay around without using it properly

    ReplyDelete
  149. True! I mean, Kpop idol music for Koreans is like the mainstream English music for Americans/UK etc. - the Justin Bieber's, the Lady Gaga's, the Katy Perry's, the One Direction's of the music industry. They are extremely popular, and we all know of them, but we don't have to like them and most us don't really care.

Sure we like a few songs here and there (unless your an actual fan, that's different) but we all go our separate ways with music, and choose other music, like less popular groups and less popular genres. Kpop is a perfect example...in America or Europe where Kpop is not popular - that's kinda like our K-indie music..it's not mainstream, it's something that's new and different so it appeals to us.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Also it works both ways..like if a person from Korea is a HUGE fan of Lady Gaga or One Direction...they can be just as confused as us when they see that the general American/UK public aren't as obsessed or interested in 1D/Lady Gaga as they are, even though they are popular and successful and their music is everywhere.

We obsess over our favorite Kpop groups, spazz over idols, embrace and love their music, see it as brilliant & amazing. And they just roll their eyes at us. And I don't blame them, if K-netizens did all that stuff for Lady Gaga, Katy Perry & JB, we would do the exact same thing. Roll our eyes.

Maybe they should banned 125374836 new debuts every years instead ,__,

    ReplyDelete
  153. Suzy. I'm not even a fan, but if I was in there, I would say Suzy's prettier.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Honestly, the trolls on Nate would have said that about her no matter how beautiful she looked. It's the crime of being an idol :(

    ReplyDelete
  155. It doesn't matter how many idols debut because the fact is that most of them are fated to fall from the beginning because of the saturation of the industry. Thus, we don't need to worry about too many idols debuting even if it is annoying because most of them won't be able to keep up by next year. And this really just leads to why they need to stop debuting them anyways... because yes, it's pretty useless.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Why do koreans hate idols so much. I can't understand.
